The purpose of a duty roster is to clearly lay out working hours and make sure everyone knows when their shifts begin and end. It also helps managers keep track of who is scheduled to work which hours, shifts and days, making it easy for adjustments and gap filling.
The duty roster is what indicates the working hours, you are required to fill in everyday with a shift or specify if it is an off day/holiday.
*It is important to specify the off days/holidays is to help calculate the payroll as necessary.
How to fill out a duty roster
Creating a duty roster can be a challenging task. To make sure it is done properly, here are some of the basic steps:
Step 1:
Create a Shift.
Add Shift details;
Shift type : Regular/Travel/Overtime/Geolocation
Label : Name of the shift
Shift time : Start time / End time
Break Times : the break times can be edited as well.
Step 2:
Create Off Day
This can be utilized to add a company holiday or add an off day that is outside the usual company off days.
Step 3:
Assigning shift, there are two ways to go about adding shifts.
By clicking 'Assign Shift' you can select the day you want to add Shift to.
Choose the pre created Shift.
Add the specific employees/ employee groups that follows this shift.
Add Shift, and now the shift would be added to the duty roster.
Press the box from the duty roster overview and add a shift.
'Copy'
Copy the shift timings from one time to another.
